Why Obsidian Is Not a Signal Service

The Obsidian desk deliberately does not sell trade alerts, and that decision is the clearest statement of what the Obsidian desk is for.

Why does Obsidian avoid selling trade signals?

Copying alerts teaches nothing transferable and leaves a trader dependent forever. A member who cannot explain why a trade was taken cannot manage that trade when conditions change, cannot size the position sensibly, and cannot continue without the alert provider.

What does Obsidian provide instead of signals?

The Obsidian desk provides the positioning analysis, the workflows built around that analysis, the Cipher terminal that surfaces the structure, and a room of members running the same process. Each member reaches each decision independently using shared tools and shared reasoning.

Does anyone at Obsidian post their own trades?

Members and desk staff discuss their own reasoning and their own positions openly, including the losing positions. Sharing reasoning transparently differs fundamentally from selling an alert feed, because the reasoning is what a member is meant to learn and eventually reproduce.
